Finding and Getting a Job

The Careers Service is available to help all students, postgraduates and graduates of Cardiff University. You can have:
- absolutely no idea what you want to do
- a fair idea what you want to do, but no idea how to do it
- help devising a strategy
- help with CVs, and application forms or interview technique
- any other careers related needs.
We offer a range of services to cater for all career needs.
Specific services to help you to find or get a job are as follows:
There are two databases of vacancies accessible here, one for national vacancies, the other for jobs in Wales.
We offer a range of workshops that show you how to design a CV in the way that is best for you and the job you want and that help you understand what the selector is looking for.
We offer an Interview Workshop to help you prepare effectively for an interview by looking at interview structure, lines of questioning and a practical exercise on competency based questions.
Psychometric (or aptitude) tests are an increasingly common part of the recruitment process. Many students report that they find them difficult, and express concern about their under-performance.
Many employers require applicants to attend an extended selection process often referred to as an Assessment Centre. We run a workshop that gives you a good idea of the variety of tasks involved and the range of skills criteria that you will be marked against.
