EUROS organised a stand to represent modern languages at Cardiff University at the recent "Wales, Europe and the World" event held in City Hall on Feb 9th and organised by Routes Into Languages. Dr. Craig Patterson and Professor Claire Gorrara worked with Ruth Meighan of the University Widening Access Office in order to bring to the attention of school pupils from the South Wales area the wide range of exciting language opportunities on offer at Cardiff. In addition, an enthusiastic team of Cardiff University modern languages students acted as "ambassadors" and contributed to the event being an overwhelming success.

There is a broad range of modern languages on offer at Cardiff that undoubtedly represent one of the University's key strengths in attracting students to all programmes of study. In addition to those languages available within the School of European Studies (Catalan, French, German, Italian and Spanish), the University also offers provision in Welsh, Arabic, Polish, Turkish, Japanese and Chinese. These languages were made more accessible to visiting students through a wide range of activities and initiatives that reminded everyone present how rewarding language learning and teaching can be for all involved.

EUROS plans to continue working closely with Routes Into Languages and the Widening Access Office as part of an ongoing initiative to recruit more students to the exciting programmes of language study on offer at Cardiff University.
