VACANCIES ON SENATE – SESSION 2010-11

The categories of membership of Senate include provision for the appointment of professorial and academic members of the Schools and associated Administrative Directorates from each of the Electoral Groups.

The Electoral Groups are:


ELECTORAL GROUP A
: BIOSI, DENTL, MEDIC, OPTOM, PGMDE, PHRMY, PSYCH, SOHCS, SONMS

SUPPORT DIRECTORATES ASSIGNED TO GROUP A:  REGOS, PAFRS

ELECTORAL GROUP B: ARCHI, CARBS, CHEMY, CLAWS, CPLAN, COMSC, EARTH, ENGIN, ENCAP, EUROS, HISAR, JOMEC, LEARN, MATHS, MUSIC, PHYSX, RELIG, SOCSI, WELSH. 

SUPPORT DIRECTORATES ASSIGNED TO GROUP B:  HRSHE, INSRV, STRAT, VCO

Vacancy details

For Session 2010-11 nominations are sought for the following vacancies:

  • Electoral Group A

Three members of the professorial staff
Four members of the academic staff

  • Electoral Group B

Three members of the professorial staff
One member of the academic staff

Appointments will be with immediate effect until 31 July 2013.

Further details of the vacancies can be found in the relevant papers for each Electoral Group [available as a resource on this page]. The University has agreed that for this purpose, the term "academic staff" covers all staff on grade 5 and above.

How to apply

Nominations for the vacancies listed above should be made on the forms that can be downloaded from this website and returned by mail to reach Sharon Orton, Committee Support, McKenzie House, 30-36 Newport Road or can be faxed to Committee Support on 029 208 [74478]. An emailed scanned copy of the completed form is also acceptable.

Alternatively, nominations should be submitted by email by the deadline to committees@cardiff.ac.uk . The email should have been forwarded between nominee, proposer and seconder before submission to Committee Support.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is FRIDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2010.

Should more nominations than vacancies be received and a ballot become necessary, nominees will be asked to provide brief biographical details.
