What's on in the Research and Graduate School in the Social Sciences
The academic activities of the RGS are intended to strengthen links between research staff and students from a variety of Academic Schools, particularly in research areas which cross Academic Schools and traditional disciplinary boundaries. The RGS enables social science researchers to be more fully aware of the array of social science research currently being undertaken and the often close links between externally funded research and PhD programmes. Both academic research staff and PhD students from member Academic Schools of the RGS are encouraged to participate in its activities.
If you require assistance in organising a social science event, or if you have suggestions regarding the RGS events programme, please do not hesitate to contact us with your ideas.

RGS POSTER COMPETITION
On Wednesday 14th May 08 the Research and Graduate School in the Social Sciences held a Poster Competition.
The Competition was open to all students who are following the MSc/Diploma in Social Science Research Methods. The aim of the event was for the entrants to communicate the essence of their proposed research projects via posters. It enhanced participants’ presentation skills and equipped students for future events.
There were eleven entries and all were of high quality and impressed the judging panel. It was a difficult decision to choose three winners. The winners were:-
1st Place - Michael Thomas
2nd Place - Bee Sia
And 3rd Place - Michael Donnelly
On the success of this enjoyable event, it was decided to make this a regular occurrence and we look forward to doing this again next year!
