student using computer

There are a range of facilities available in our libraries and IT rooms to enable you to access the resources you need in your studies.

These include:

  • Assistive software, such as screen-readers magnification and mindmapping for those with dyslexia and visual impairments
  • Adaptive workstations with:
    o       Video magnifiers
o       Height-adjustable desks and ergonomic chairs
    o       Large computer screens
    o       Assistive keyboards and mice
    o       Scanners and laser printers
  • Induction loops are installed at library counters and reception desks, and in pool rooms and training rooms.

Specially trained Information Services staff are on hand to provide advice on getting the best from Information Services facilities, help with photocopying, and retrieving items from library shelves. Our library and IT training will also be tailored to ensure it meets your specific needs.

We have a range of printed guides to using the services, software and subject databases. Please ask in your library if you require these in large print, Braille, audio tape, coloured paper or in electronic format.

If you would like further information or advice on using specific services or facilities, please contact your local librarian to discuss this in confidence.

Full details of services and contacts are provided at services and assistance for disabled users.
