Some databases require your Cardiff University network username and password for off-campus access. These databases are available for all staff and students of Cardiff University but because of licensing restrictions they are not available to external members and visitors.

ABI Inform/Proquest
Contains abstracts and full-text from over 3040 business, management and trade journals. The index for many journals goes back to 1970. Many of the full text articles are available from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

EBSCO Business Source Premier
Features the full text of over 3,600 publications including scholarly journals, trade publications and popular business magazines. It covers subjects such as:

Titles include Business Week, Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Fortune, The Economist and hundreds of peer- reviewed journals. The database also provides company profiles, EIU country economic reports, and DataMonitor market reports.

IngentaConnect is the new name for Ingenta and Ingenta Select.
This service gives access to over 28,000 academic and trade journals across a wide range of subject areas. Please note that full text access is only available where Cardiff University has a subscription to the journal title.

JSTOR
An archive of electronic journals which currently provides access to more than 200 scholarly titles in over 20 disciplines in the Arts and Sciences. Journals are archived, where possible, back to the first issue, though the most recent years are excluded.
The whole database can be searched by keyword and author, and the articles retrieved can be downloaded and printed.

From the first page, click to accept the Terms and Conditions to proceed to the database.
A comprehensive newspaper database, updated daily, providing full text access to all UK national newspapers, plus regional newspapers, international news providers and a number of trade journals and magazines. Most titles have a twenty year archive. UK newspaper titles include:

The database also includes company data. Annual Reports are available for UK quoted companies as well as selected European, Asian and US companies. Financial information is provided by Extel Cards and Worldscope and the Directory of Directors provides details of 45,700 directors of UK Companies. Please be aware that this resource will only run on a Windows PC.

Science Direct
Access to the Elsevier Science journal collection (over 1,200 titles), along with titles from a number of other publishers and societies. Most titles are available in full text from 1995. The collection covers a wide range of scientific disciplines, including social sciences.

Includes over 14,000 scholarly journals in scientific, medical, technical, and social science disciplines. Coverage goes back selectively to 1966.

Provides a single point of access to a large range of publications from over 200 publishers. Many of the journal articles are available in full text.

Web of Knowledge Service
This service provides access to the Web of Science databases:
- Arts & Humanities Citation Index
- Social Science Citation Index
- Science Citation Index
Covers over 8,500 scholarly research journals, including author abstracts, from 1981 to the present. Searchable by keyword or by works that have been cited by other publications.
Also includes the ISI Journal Citation Reports for the Sciences and Social Sciences. To access the Reports, login to Web of Knowledge and select the ISI Journal Citation Reports option from the home page. These provide easy access to data so scholarly journals can be compared. Categories include highest impact and most frequently cited journals.

Provides information about articles published internationally in over 400 banking and finance publications. The abstracts are drawn from journals, magazines, and research reports.

GMID
Provides key business intelligence on countries, markets and companies. More than 330 consumer products in 52 countries are researched to produce value market sizes and forecasts to 2012.

Datastream
Provides a wide range of statistical information on companies, financial markets and economics. Most of the data can be downloaded into Excel-compatible format. It is available at Aberconway Library only.
Fame
Please read the information below before selecting the version of FAME you wish to use.
Provides financial information about UK public and private companies. Searches can be made by company name or by criteria such as location, turnover size and number of employees. Company information includes:
- trade description
- directors' names
- subsidiaries
- company accounts
There are three methods of access to the FAME database:
1. FAME web version
The web version of FAME has data on approximately 2.7 million UK companies. Please note that the web version may be slower than the DVD version.
2. FAME Networked DVD version
The networked DVD version has the same coverage of companies as the web version. This version is faster to use although it is less up to date than the web version.
3. Off campus use of FAME

Thomson One Banker
Thomson One Banker provides access to global financial data including company accounts, scanned filings and annual reports, shareholder data, mergers and acquisitions, equities, bonds, syndicated loans and earnings estimates. Some basic economic data is also included.

European Information
European Sources Online (ESO)
Previously called KnowEurope. ESO is an index to information sources about Europe, focusing on the European Union and other pan-European organisations, the countries of Europe, and on the issues of importance to European citizens and stakeholders.
ESO provides full text access to publications, documents and web sites from the EU and other international organisations, national governments, thinktanks and stakeholder organisations. In addition, it includes full text articles from news sources, and bibliographic references to key academic textbooks and periodical articles. Information guides provide additional help in finding out about the policies and institutions of the European Union and European countries.
