Copyright and Use of Databases

The University holds licences for all of its electronic databases and journals. These resources are available to the staff and students of Cardiff University and should be used for teaching and research purposes only.

You must observe the specific terms and conditions for each service that you use. It is a breach of licence conditions to use the data for commercial or business purposes.  Please read the copyright / acceptable use of electronic resources statement.

  • Key

    • CU Login indicates that your Cardiff University network username and password will be required both on and off-campus;

    • Off-campus indicates that your Cardiff University network username and password will only be required off-campus;

    • Password indicates that a special password is required for use both on and off-campus. You will be prompted for your Cardiff University network username and password to access this information;

    • Password off-campus indicates that a special password will only be required off-campus. You will be prompted for your Cardiff University network username and password to access this information;

    • If there is no access information, the resource is freely available both on and off-campus;

    • A library name indicates that a database is only available in a particular library;

    • Guide indicates that an online guide (in PDF format) is available to help you use the database;

    • More provides further information about the resource.
