myPrint, Information Services' new networked printing and photocopying system, has been launched in the libraries and open access IT rooms across Cardiff University.

myPrint offers users greater flexibility in managing and monitoring the cost and environmental impact of your printing and photocopying. myPrint users can view the environmental impact of their printing to date, as the system shows the number of trees used by your printing, the number of grams of carbon dioxide used, and the energy used as an equivalent to running a 60W lightbulb.

As a web-based service, your myPrint account can be securely accessed online through the myPrint website and credit added using a debit or credit card. Pay stations are also available throughout the University if you prefer to top up your account with cash.

As Clare Johnston, Graphics Services Manager, explained: "We are really excited about the benefits of myPrint for users – not only is it now easier to monitor your printing use, but you can view your account and printing histories, change your PIN number and add credit all from the same web page."

Tracey Stanley, Deputy University Librarian, added: "We hope that providing this information will encourage our users to support Information Services' drive to be more sustainable, and to think twice before printing out non-essential documents. myPrint also gives us many more options for future development, and the potential to introduce exciting new services to our networked printing and photocopying."
