Two Research Centres have been developed in recent years by the School of Music. They are housed in 33 Corbett Road, above the administrative offices.

Central European Music Research Centre (CEMRC)

The CEMRC is a leading centre for the study of the music of Central and East-Central Europe.

The Centre is housed on the top floor of 33 Corbett Road and its principal researchers have their staff rooms in the same building. The Director of CEMRC is Professor Thomas.

Centre for Research into Historically Informed Performance (CRHIP)

The CRHIP seeks to provide the equivalent of a 'well-found laboratory' for research into performance through history and its resources include a collection of ‘period’ musical instruments, specialist technological equipment to support analytical research into technique, style and performance in early recordings and a collection of 78rpm records.

The Centre is housed on the first floor of 33 Corbett Road. The Director of CRHIP is Professor Stowell.
