University more popular than ever

18 Awst 2007

Cardiff University will welcome a talented new intake of undergraduate students following the publication of examination results.

4500 new undergraduates will enrol at the University in September 2007 after a record number of students achieved the grades necessary to take up their offers of study.

Most places available were filled immediately upon publication of results by applicants for whom Cardiff was their first choice University. The University had a few remaining places available on a small minority of courses and, as usual, high calibre students were quickly snapping these up.

Professor Nigel Palastanga, the University’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Learning and Teaching said: "Cardiff continues to attract the very best students in the UK and internationally. We would like to congratulate all applicants who have met the exacting admission standards the University’s academic schools set. We look forward to welcoming the new Undergraduates who will join us in what is the University’s 125th anniversary year."

The University received more than 37,000 applications for places on its undergraduate degree programmes, making it the eighth most popular university in the UK for the second year in succession. Head of Undergraduate Recruitment David Roylance said: "The University has an excellent reputation for teaching and research and this allied with its location at the heart of a vibrant capital city is a winning formula."
