 Catrin Palfrey

Catrin has worked at the University since 2008 when she joined as Public Relations assistant working on a variety of projects including the launch of the University’s Research Institutes, the staff communications strategy and the 125th anniversary celebrations. Catrin has since worked in a variety of communication roles at the University, including Communications Officer across three research centres and most recently managing marketing and communication for the School of Social Sciences.

 

Catrin has a BSc Honours in Business Studies and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), having recently completed the CIPR Advanced Certificate in Public Relations.

Catrin is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Prior to working with the PR team Amy managed marketing and communication for the School of Computer Science & Informatics and before that worked in the Development and Alumni Relations Office.

 

Prior to joining the University Amy worked in arts marketing.

 

Amy has a BA in English Literature and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. She recently completed a diploma in internal communication focussing on using social networks to improve employee engagement.

Prior to working with the PR team she worked in the University’s Human Resources Directorate as a PA and Positive Working Environment Project Administrator. Before that Louise worked in the School of Psychology as a Senior Administrative Assistant, working on a variety of projects including the School Research Ethics Committee, the Fertility Pathways Network and the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology.

 

Louise has a BA in History & Politics and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Primary). Louise is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Contact Us - Lucy SkellonLucy has worked at the University since 2009, firstly as PA to the Director of Strategic Development within the Vice-Chancellor’s office and as Events Officer since 2012.

 

Prior to working at the University, Lucy worked for 7 years in the hospitality industry as PA to the General Manager of The St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff Bay, where she gained valuable experience in the weddings, conference and celebratory events markets.

 

Lucy has also spent time teaching English abroad and has spent time in London working as PA support in the financial and sports media and marketing industries.

 

Lucy has a BSc (Econ) in European Community Studies.

Lowri Jones_thumbLowri has a BA in Sociology and a Masters in Marketing. Lowri began her career as a PR consultant in the north east of England. On moving back to Wales, she worked for some of Wales’ leading public relations consultancies, directing PR campaigns for public, private and third sector organisations. Lowri moved in-house at Cardiff University in 2007 originally as part of the Public Relations Team, taking up the post of Public Affairs Manager in 2010.

 Karen has held communications roles since 1986 in both the public and private sector which have included: an international specialist oil company, a local authority, and from 1992 entering the further and higher education sector as Communications Manager for the Further Education Funding Council for England. Before coming to the University as Head of Public Relations in 2003, Karen was Director of Corporate Services for Somerset Learning and Skills Council.
