Qualifications
Before starting a PhD I worked for a number of years teaching in Tokyo and London. I returned to Cardiff in 2003 and began a part-time Masters in Criminology and Criminal Justice. During this two year course I developed an interest in researching the Gypsy and Traveller community in Wales and am really pleased that I am able to continue this interest as a PhD student.
Research Interests
I am interested in researching crime and victimization among marginalised groups in the UK.
PhD Topic/ Area
The aim of research is to look at how Gypsies and Travellers resolve deviant transgressions within their community. In order to achieve this I am concerned at looking how this community define deviance and how this may conflict with those of the wider society. I also look at the different mechanisms Gypsies and Travellers adopt to tackle deviant transgressions by members of their community.
