UCAS Code: B160 BSc/Physio
The BSc (Hons) programme in Cardiff is designed to fully prepare graduates for practice as a Chartered and HPC registered physiotherapists. The degree education uses a problem solving approach to develop the required knowledge and to enhance numerous transferable skills. The key elements of the degree include the provision of high quality learning and teaching in a research led environment and the promotion of theory, clinical practice and research as intimately linked activities. This is achieved through:
- Individual placement profiles, specifically designed for each student
- The development of undergraduate research skills through a PhD, MSc and BSc student pyramid structure
- The merging of research teams with teaching teams
- The development and application of clinical reasoning as the context for autonomous clinical practice
Nigel Palastanga, Emeritus Professor and author of Anatomy and Human Movement; Structure and Function, has this to say about Cardiff University:
“Cardiff offers the benefits of being a Russell Group University where there is a very strong emphasis on research; this is linked to a student-centred learning and teaching ethos. The clinical education component of the course in Cardiff is one of its strengths, as students are placed in a wide range of clinical settings all over the principality where they are always supported by visiting University tutors.”
