Cardiff School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies is a thriving centre of teaching and research in the fields of adult nursing, mental health nursing, children and young people’s nursing and midwifery, with a local, national and international reputation in all areas. Around 600 undergraduates join the School each year.

The School offers three-year undergraduate (pre-registration) full degree schemes in Adult Nursing, Children’s Nursing, Mental Health Nursing and Midwifery. These are vocationally-relevant degree programmes which include a well-balanced mixture of practice and theory, and lead to the degree of Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) - Adult, Child, Mental Health and to the degree of Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons). Clinical placements are structured to maximise the link between clinical and theory learning outcomes, and to ensure you benefit from a broad range of clinical experiences delivered by a variety of service providers.

Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) - First Year Course

In the first year all students pursuing a degree in Nursing (irrespective of branch) study together; this is known as a Common Foundation Programme.
