Peer Review and Ethics

All research proposed by staff and students should be submitted for review and/or ethics screening to the RRESC, which is a sub-committee of the School Research Committee. Projects in which access to students is proposed for the purposes of data generation should also be submitted to RRESC.
Staff proposing manuscripts for internal publication should forward their work to the RRESC for peer review.
Terms of reference for the RRESC, guidance sheets and other information are available from this section of the School’s site. A useful place to start is to work through the PowerPoint document entitled RRESC – flowchart, and to read the document RRESC - Outline of Functions and Overview of Procedures.
When sending proposals to the SONMS Research Administrator for review by RRESC, researchers are reminded to include a completed RRESC - Front Sheet.
Members of staff at the School of Nursing and Midwifery Studies are reminded that the School operates an early warning system for all funded research projects. At the earliest opportunity, and prior to submitting their plans to RRESC, staff should read the guidelines and complete the research proposal notification form.
