Facilities: Easter Eggschange 2009 is a success
11 May 2009
Between Monday 6th & Sunday 26th April the University Fitness and Squash Centre – Park Place offered free gym or free class memberships in exchange for your Easter Eggs!
The initiative has once again been a success after over 40 students and members of staff exchanged their Easter Eggs in favour of becoming more active in the gym. All the chocolate has not gone to waste but has been donated to the Children’s Hospital of Wales where it has helped put a smile on the faces of some of Wales’ sickest children.
David Tierney, Manager of the University’s Fitness and Squash Centre, said: “Our thanks go to all the staff and students who gave up their Easter eggs for the benefit of the children at the Children’s Hospital for Wales.
“The aim of the offer was simple – we wanted to give staff and students the chance the do something positive about their fitness and, at the same time, bring some much needed cheer to the lives of the children in the hospital.”
Sport & Exercise would also like to thank everyone who took part in the initiative and hope something similar will be in place in future years.
